Let’s read a short text together: 'UThandi uthanda izinkanyezi. Uthandi ukwazi ukuthi zikhona kanjani.' After reading, I will ask you, 'What do you think Thandi will do next?' You might predict that Thandi will look for more stars or ask questions about them. This is a good prediction because it relates to what we just read.
Now, I will read another short text aloud: 'USipho uyahamba emgwaqweni. Uthola umngane wakhe, uLwazi.' After reading, I will ask the class, 'What do you think will happen when Sipho meets Lwazi?' Let’s discuss your predictions as a group. Remember to explain why you think that will happen.
For your independent practice, I want you to write two sentences about what you think will happen next in the story of Sipho and Lwazi. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. After writing, draw a picture that represents your prediction. We will share our sentences and pictures with the class.
