Today, we will learn about creative writing. Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in a fun way. We will start by discussing what creative writing is and how we can use our imagination to create stories. I will read a short story in isiZulu, and we will talk about the characters and what happens in the story.
Let’s look at a simple example: 'UThandi uyathanda izinja. UThandi unomngane ogama lakhe linguSizwe. Bobabili badlala ndawonye.' This text tells us about Thandi and her friend Sizwe. Notice how we use spaces between words and a full stop at the end of the sentence. We will practice writing similar sentences.
Now, let’s create sentences together. I will say a word, and you will help me make a sentence. For example, if I say 'ibhola', you can say 'UThandi udlala ibhola.' Let’s do this for a few more words. Remember to use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. After we create our sentences, we will read them aloud to the class.
It’s your turn to write! Think of your favorite animal and write a short text about it. Use at least three sentences. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. Once you finish writing, draw a picture of your animal and share your text with a partner. This will help you practice reading and speaking in isiZulu.
