Today, we will explore a short story together. Shared reading allows us to read as a group, helping each other understand the text. As we read, I will ask you to predict what might happen next. This will help us think critically about the story and engage with the characters.

Let’s read the first part of our story: 'UThandi uhlala edolobheni elincane. Uthanda ukudlala nezilwane.' (Thandi lives in a small town. She loves playing with animals.) Now, what do you think Thandi will do next? Will she go to the park, or will she stay at home? Let’s discuss your ideas.

I will read another part of the story aloud: 'UThandi uthola inja encane. UThandi ujabule.' (Thandi finds a small dog. Thandi is happy.) Now, in pairs, discuss what you think will happen when Thandi takes the dog home. After a few minutes, we will share our predictions with the class.

Now it’s your turn! Write three sentences about what you think will happen next in the story. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end. After writing, draw a picture to illustrate your sentences. We will share our drawings and sentences with the class.
