Today, we will learn about phonics, which helps us understand the sounds that letters make. In isiZulu, each letter has a specific sound. For example, the letter 'b' sounds like 'buh'. We will practice these sounds together and learn how to blend them to form words.
Let's take the sounds 'm', 'a', and 't'. When we blend these sounds together, we get the word 'mat'. I will write it on the board: 'm-a-t'. Now, let's say it together: 'mat'. Can anyone think of another word that starts with 'm'?
Now that we have built some words, let's use them in sentences. I will give you a word, and you will help me create a sentence. For example, if I say 'mat', you might say, 'I sit on the mat.' Let's try with the word 'baba' (father). What sentence can we make with 'baba'?
Now it's your turn! I want you to write three words that start with the letter 's'. After that, use each word in a sentence. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of your sentences and punctuation at the end. Once you finish, share your sentences with a partner.
