Let’s look at some example sentences. If I say, 'I love my dog,' this is a complete thought. We can add more detail: 'I love my dog because he is friendly.' Notice how we used a full stop at the end. Now, let’s think of our own sentences about our favorite animals.
In groups, discuss your favorite animal. Each student will share one sentence about why they like that animal. After sharing, we will write down one sentence from each group on the board. Remember to use correct punctuation. For example, 'The lion is strong.'
Now it’s your turn! Write a short paragraph about your favorite animal. Include at least three sentences and use correct punctuation. Think about what makes your animal special. After writing, draw a picture of your animal and label it with one sentence.
