Phonics is the relationship between sounds and letters. Today, we will learn how to identify sounds in words and how to blend these sounds to form new words. We will focus on the sounds of the letters 'b', 'm', and 's'. For example, the sound 'b' can be found in the word 'baba' (father), 'm' in 'mama' (mother), and 's' in 'sani' (eat).

Let's build some words together! If we take the sound 'b' and add 'aba', we get 'baba'. Now, if we take 'm' and add 'ama', we get 'mama'. Lastly, for 's', if we add 'ani', we create 'sani'. Notice how each sound changes the meaning of the word. This is how we can create new words using phonics.

Now, let's create sentences using the words we built. For example, we can say 'Baba uyasebenza' (Father is working) and 'Mama uyaphuza' (Mother is drinking). I will write these sentences on the board. As a class, we will read them together, paying attention to punctuation and spacing. Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end.
