Digital citizenship means being responsible and respectful when using technology. Just like we have rules for how to behave in school and at home, we also need rules for how to behave online. This includes being kind to others, not sharing personal information, and knowing how to stay safe while using the internet.
Let's look at some scenarios. If you see someone being mean to another person online, what should you do? You should tell a trusted adult and not join in. Another example is when you want to share a picture online. Always ask for permission before sharing someone else's photo. These examples help us understand how to act respectfully in the digital world.
In pairs, students will role-play different scenarios related to digital citizenship. One student can act as a person using a device, while the other acts as a friend. They will practice how to respond to situations like receiving a mean message or wanting to share a video. After each role-play, the class will discuss what was done well and what could be improved.
Each student will write down one goal they want to achieve regarding digital citizenship. This could be something like 'I will always ask before sharing a photo' or 'I will be kind to others online.' They will share their goals with the class, and we will discuss how we can support each other in achieving these goals.
