Let's look at some examples. Imagine you are playing a game online and someone is being mean to you. What should you do? You can tell a trusted adult or use the block feature. Another example is when you see a friend sharing their password. You should remind them that it's important to keep passwords private. These scenarios help us understand how to act responsibly online.

As a class, we will discuss what it means to be respectful online. I will ask you questions like, 'How should we talk to others in a chat room?' and 'What should we do if we see someone being unkind?' Together, we will create a list of respectful behaviors, such as using polite words, not sharing personal information, and reporting bad behavior to an adult.

Now it's time for you to think about your own technology use. Write down one goal you want to achieve regarding digital citizenship. For example, you might want to limit your screen time to one hour a day or always ask for permission before using a device. Share your goal with a partner and discuss why it's important.
