Today, we will talk about health and safety. Health means taking care of our bodies and minds, while safety means keeping ourselves and others safe. We will learn how to make healthy choices, like eating fruits and vegetables, and how to stay safe, like looking both ways before crossing the street. Let's think about why these things are important for us!
Let's look at some examples of healthy choices. If I ask you whether eating an apple or a candy bar is healthier, what would you say? That's right! An apple is a healthy choice because it gives us energy and helps us grow strong. Now, let's think about some other healthy foods we can eat. Can anyone name a healthy drink? Yes, water is a great choice!
Now, let's practice some safety scenarios. I will describe a situation, and I want you to tell me what you would do. For example, if you see a stranger in the park, what should you do? Yes, you should stay away and tell a trusted adult. Let's try another one: if you are riding your bike, what should you wear to stay safe? Correct! A helmet is very important to protect your head.
For our independent practice, I want each of you to think of one small health goal you can set for yourself. It could be drinking more water, eating a fruit every day, or playing outside for 30 minutes. Write your goal on a piece of paper and draw a picture of you achieving that goal. We will share our goals with the class at the end of the lesson.
