Number sense is the ability to understand and work with numbers. It involves recognizing numbers, understanding their values, and being able to compare them. For example, when we see the numbers 3 and 5, we can say that 5 is greater than 3. We can also count objects to help us understand how many there are. Today, we will explore number sense by counting objects and comparing different numbers.

Let's count the number of apples in a basket. If there are 4 apples in the basket and I add 2 more, how many apples do we have now? We can count: 1, 2, 3, 4 (the original apples), 5, 6 (the added apples). So, 4 + 2 = 6. This shows how we can use counting to find the total number of objects.

Now, let's practice comparing numbers. I will show you two numbers: 7 and 5. Which number is greater? We can use our fingers to count or draw dots to represent each number. If we count, we see that 7 is more than 5. Let's try another pair: 3 and 8. Who can tell me which is greater? Remember to use your counting skills!
