Kindness means being friendly, generous, and considerate to others. In many religions, kindness is a very important value. For example, in Christianity, it is taught to love your neighbor as yourself. In Buddhism, being kind is a way to create peace and happiness. Today, we will learn how different religions teach us to be kind.
Letβs look at some examples of kindness. If someone is feeling sad, you can cheer them up by sharing a toy or giving them a compliment. In Islam, it is said that helping others is a way to show kindness. For instance, if you see someone drop their books, helping them pick them up is a kind act. Can you think of other examples of kindness?
Now, letβs talk about how we can show kindness every day. I want you to think of a time when you were kind to someone. Share your story with a partner. After you share, we will come back together and discuss some of the stories. What did you do? How did it make you feel? How do you think the other person felt?
For your independent practice, I want you to draw a picture of a kind act. This could be you helping a friend, sharing a snack, or saying something nice to someone. Once you finish your drawing, write a sentence about what is happening in your picture. We will display these drawings on our kindness wall!
