Today, we will learn about creative writing. Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings through stories and sentences. We will start by discussing what makes a good story. A good story has a beginning, middle, and end. It can be about anything we imagine! Let's think about our favorite stories and what we like about them.
Let's create a short story together. I will start with a sentence: 'There was a little bird who loved to sing.' Now, I will ask you what happens next. You can add a sentence. For example, 'One day, the bird saw a beautiful flower.' We will continue adding sentences until we have a complete story. Remember to use punctuation at the end of each sentence!
Now it's your turn! I will give you some words: 'cat', 'runs', 'fast'. Can you make a sentence using these words? Remember to think about the order of the words and use a capital letter at the beginning. Once you have your sentence, share it with your partner. After that, we will write some of your sentences on the board.
For your independent practice, I want you to write your own short story. Think of a character, a setting, and what happens in your story. Use at least three sentences and remember to use punctuation. After you finish writing, draw a picture that goes with your story. We will share our stories with the class at the end of the lesson.
