Today, we will explore the world of creative writing! Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. We will learn how to write short stories and sentences that are fun and interesting. Remember, in creative writing, there are no wrong answers! We will also discuss the importance of punctuation and spacing in our writing.

Let’s create a sentence together! I will start with a simple idea: 'The cat is.' Now, let’s add more to it. What can the cat do? (Students suggest ideas.) Great! We can say, 'The cat is sleeping.' Notice how we used a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end. Let’s try another one: 'The dog is.' What can we add to that? (Students contribute.) Excellent! We can write, 'The dog is barking.'

Now it’s your turn! I will give you a starting sentence, and you will complete it. The first sentence is: 'The bird is.' Think about what the bird can do or where it can be. Write your sentence on your paper. Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a period. After you finish, we will share our sentences with the class.

For your independent practice, I want you to write a short story about your favorite animal. Start with a sentence like, 'My favorite animal is a lion.' Then, describe what the lion does or where it lives. Use at least three sentences and remember to check your punctuation and spacing. Once you are done, you can draw a picture of your animal to go along with your story.
