Reading fluency is the ability to read smoothly and with expression. Today, we will practice reading short stories in Sepedi. We will focus on how to use our voices to show feelings and meaning in the text. Good readers pause at punctuation marks and change their tone to match the story.

Let's read a short story together. The story is about a little bird that learns to fly. As we read, pay attention to how I change my voice when the bird is happy and when it is scared. Notice how I pause at commas and periods. After reading, we will discuss how the bird felt at different parts of the story.

Now, it's your turn! In small groups, choose a short text from our reading corner. Each person will take turns reading a sentence. Remember to use expression and to pause at punctuation marks. After your group finishes reading, discuss how the characters felt and why. Share your thoughts with the class.

For independent practice, write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. After writing, read your sentences aloud to a partner, using expression to show how your animal feels. This will help you practice both writing and reading fluently.
