Reading fluency is the ability to read text smoothly and accurately. In this lesson, we will focus on reading short stories in siSwati. We will discuss how to read with expression, which means using our voice to show feelings and emotions in the text. This helps us understand the story better and makes reading more enjoyable.

Let's read a short story together called 'Uthando Lwakho'. As we read, pay attention to how I change my voice for different characters and emotions. For example, when the character is happy, I will read with a cheerful tone. After reading, we will discuss how the characters felt and how we can express those feelings when we read.

Now, it's your turn to read a short paragraph from the story. I will choose a few students to read aloud. Remember to use your voice to show how the characters feel. After each student reads, we will discuss how their expression changed the meaning of the text. What did you feel when you heard them read? How did their voice help you understand the story?

For independent practice, I want you to write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation at the end of each sentence. After writing, you will pair up with a partner and read your sentences aloud to each other. Pay attention to how your partner uses expression while reading.
