Reading fluency is the ability to read smoothly and with expression. Today, we will focus on reading short texts in siSwati. For example, when we see a question mark, we should raise our voices slightly, and when we see a full stop, we should pause. I will read the first paragraph, and then you will repeat after me, focusing on expression.

Now, let’s form small groups. Each group will receive a different short text. Read your text together, taking turns. Remember to use expression and pay attention to punctuation. After reading, discuss with your group what the story is about and how the characters might feel. Each group will then share their story with the class.

For your independent practice, write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. After writing, read your sentences aloud to a partner, using expression. This will help you practice both your writing and reading skills.
