siSwati Home Language - Term 2 - Week 3

Today, we will explore new words in siSwati. Vocabulary is important because it helps us express our thoughts and feelings. We will learn words related to animals, colors, and actions. I will introduce a few words, and we will discuss their meanings together.

Let’s take the word 'imfene' which means 'monkey'. I will show you how to use it in a sentence: 'Imfene iyadlala' which means 'The monkey is playing.' Notice how we use the word in a complete sentence. Now, let’s try another word together.

Now, I will give you a few words: 'ibhubesi' (lion), 'umntwana' (child), and 'ukudla' (to eat). In pairs, create sentences using these words. Remember to use correct punctuation at the end of your sentences. After a few minutes, we will share our sentences with the class.

For your independent practice, I want you to write three sentences using any of the vocabulary words we learned today. Make sure to include correct spacing and punctuation. Once you finish, draw a picture that represents one of your sentences. We will display these in the classroom.
