Guided reading is a teaching approach where the teacher supports students in reading a text that is at their instructional level. Today, we will read a short story together. I will ask questions to help you think about what you read. Remember to pay attention to the words and the pictures!

Let's read the story 'Uthando Lwakho' together. As we read, I will pause and ask you questions. For example, after reading a sentence, I might ask, 'What did the boy do?' This helps us understand the story better. We will also look at the pictures to see how they relate to the text.

After reading, we will discuss the story. I will ask you questions like, 'Who are the main characters?' and 'What happened at the end of the story?' You can raise your hand to answer. This will help us practice speaking and listening. Remember to use full sentences when you answer!

Now it's your turn to write! I want you to write three sentences about the story we read. Make sure to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. You can use words from the story or create your own. Once you finish, we will share our sentences with the class.
