Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. In Tshivenda, we can write stories, poems, or even simple sentences about our daily lives. Today, we will focus on writing short texts that tell a story or describe something we love. We will also learn how to use punctuation marks like full stops and question marks to make our writing clear.

Let’s look at a simple story: 'Ndi na mbwa. Mbwa yanga ndi muvhili. U bva na u khou renga.' This means 'I have a dog. My dog is brown. It likes to play.' Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This is important for clear writing.

Now, let’s work together to create sentences. I will ask you to think about your favorite animal. What is it? (Pause for responses.) Great! Now, let’s write a sentence together. For example, 'Ndi na nwana. Nwana yanga u khou renga.' (I have a cat. My cat is playing.) Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end.

It’s your turn! Write a short text about your favorite toy or animal. Use at least three sentences. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After you finish writing, draw a picture of your toy or animal to go along with your text. We will share our stories with the class later.
