We will start by discussing what creative writing means and how we can use our imagination to create stories. I will share a short story with you, and we will talk about the characters, setting, and what happens in the story.

Let's create a short story together! I will start with a sentence: 'Once upon a time, there was a little bird who wanted to fly high in the sky.' Now, I will ask you to add a sentence. You might say, 'The bird practiced every day.' Together, we will build our story by adding more sentences. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end.

Now it's your turn to practice! I will give you some words on the board: 'cat', 'chased', 'the', 'mouse'. Work with a partner to create a complete sentence using these words. Remember to think about punctuation. After you finish, we will share our sentences with the class. I will help you correct any mistakes in punctuation or spacing.

For your independent practice, I want you to write your own short story. You can choose any topic you like! It could be about an animal, a magical place, or an adventure. Make sure to write at least three sentences. Remember to use capital letters and full stops. After you finish writing, draw a picture that goes with your story. We will share our stories with the class tomorrow!
