Let's look at the sentence: 'The cat is on the mat.' We can break this sentence down. 'The' is a determiner, 'cat' is a noun, 'is' is a verb, 'on' is a preposition, and 'mat' is also a noun. Now, let's try to create a new sentence using some of these words. For example, 'The dog is on the mat.' Notice how we changed 'cat' to 'dog' but kept the rest of the sentence the same.
Now, I will give you a few words: 'bird', 'tree', 'fly'. Let's work together to create sentences using these words. Who can tell me a sentence using 'bird'? (Wait for responses.) Great! Now, let's write it down on the board. Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. We will create a few sentences together and then read them aloud.
It's your turn now! I want you to write three sentences using the words from our vocabulary list: 'sun', 'play', 'happy'. Make sure to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After you finish writing, draw a picture that represents one of your sentences.
