Today, we will explore the world of creative writing! Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. We will start by discussing what creative writing means and how we can use our imagination to create stories. I will share a short story with you, and we will talk about the characters, setting, and events in the story.
Let’s create a short story as a class. I will start with a sentence: 'There was a little bird who loved to sing.' Now, I will ask you questions to help us build the story. What do you think the bird saw? (Encourage students to suggest ideas.) We can add sentences like, 'The bird saw a beautiful flower.' Together, we will write down our sentences on the board, making sure to use capital letters and punctuation.
Now, I will give you some words on the board: 'cat', 'jump', 'high', 'the'. Let’s work together to form a complete sentence. I will guide you to arrange the words correctly. For example, we can say, 'The cat jumps high.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After we create a few sentences together, I will ask you to come up with your own sentences using the words provided.
It’s your turn to be creative! I want you to write a short story about your favorite animal. Think about what your animal does and where it lives. Use at least three sentences and remember to use capital letters and punctuation. After you finish writing, you can draw a picture of your animal and share your story with a partner.
