A sentence is a group of words that express a complete thought. In Xitsonga, sentences often start with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark. The most common punctuation marks are the full stop (.), question mark (?), and exclamation mark (!). Let’s look at some examples: 'Ndi na nwana.' (I have a child.) This sentence ends with a full stop. 'U funa ku ya?' (Do you want to go?) This sentence ends with a question mark. 'Ndi khumbule!' (I remember!) This sentence ends with an exclamation mark. Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with the correct punctuation.
Now, let’s create sentences together. I will say a word, and you will help me form a sentence. For example, if I say 'ndzi' (I), you can say 'ndzi suka' (I am going). Let’s add punctuation: 'Ndzi suka.' Now, let’s try another one: 'u' (you). What sentence can we make? Remember to think about punctuation!
