Let’s take the sounds 's', 'a', and 't'. When we blend these sounds together, we get the word 'sat'. We can also change the first sound to create new words, like 'cat' or 'hat'. This shows how changing one letter can create a different word. We will practice this with other sounds and letters.
In groups, learners will be given a set of letters. They will take turns to create as many words as possible using those letters. For instance, if given 'b', 'a', and 'g', they can form 'bag', 'gab', and 'ab'. After creating the words, each group will share their words with the class, and we will discuss the meanings of these words.
Each learner will choose three words they created during the group activity and write a sentence for each word. They should remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and punctuation at the end. For example, if a learner chose the word 'cat', they might write, 'The cat is sleeping.' After writing, they will share their sentences with a partner.
