Let’s look at a simple story: 'The cat sat on the mat. It was a sunny day. The cat saw a butterfly and chased it.' Notice how each sentence tells us something new and ends with a punctuation mark. We can use our imagination to create our own stories just like this!

Now, let’s work together! I will say a sentence starter, and you will help me finish it. For example, I say, 'Once upon a time, there was a...' You can say, 'big elephant who loved to dance!' Let’s write it down together. Remember to use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. After we finish, we will read our sentences aloud.

It’s your turn to be creative! Write a short story about your favorite animal. Start with a capital letter and remember to use punctuation at the end of each sentence. After you finish writing, draw a picture of your animal and share your story with a partner. This will help you practice speaking and listening skills!
