In this lesson, we will review what we have learned this term in Afrikaans. We will focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The goal is to ensure that everyone understands the vocabulary and can use it in sentences. We will also practice punctuation and spacing in our writing.
Let’s look at the sentence: 'Die hond speel in die tuin.' (The dog plays in the garden.) Notice how we start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. Now, let’s change the sentence to: 'Die kat slaap op die mat.' (The cat sleeps on the mat.) We will practice writing sentences like these together.
I will read a short story aloud. Listen carefully and then we will discuss the main ideas. After the story, I will ask questions like, 'Wie is die hoofkarakter?' (Who is the main character?) and 'Wat gebeur in die storie?' (What happens in the story?). This will help us practice our speaking skills.
Now it’s your turn to write! Using the vocabulary we have learned, write three sentences about your favorite animal. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning and full stops at the end. After you finish, pair up with a partner and read your sentences to each other. Check if you used correct punctuation.
