Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and imaginations. Today, we will learn how to write short stories and sentences that are fun and interesting. We will also discuss how to use punctuation marks like full stops, commas, and question marks to make our writing clear.
Let’s look at a short story together. 'Once upon a time, there was a little cat named Whiskers. Whiskers loved to explore the garden. One day, he found a shiny red ball. What do you think he did with it?' Notice how the sentences are complete and end with a full stop. This makes it easy to understand the story.
Now, let’s create sentences as a class. I will start with a sentence: 'The sun is shining.' What can we add to make it more interesting? (Encourage students to suggest ideas.) Great! We can say, 'The sun is shining brightly in the blue sky.' Let’s write it down together, remembering to use a full stop at the end.
It’s your turn to be creative! Write a short story about an adventure you would like to have. Use at least three sentences and remember to use punctuation marks correctly. After you finish, share your story with a partner and listen to their story too.
