Let's look at some examples of how to build words. If we take the sounds 'm', 'a', and 't', we can combine them to form the word 'mat'. We can also change the first sound to create new words, such as 'cat' by changing 'm' to 'c'. This shows how changing one sound can create a different word.

Now, let's practice together. I will say a sound, and you will help me build a word. For example, if I say 's', 'u', and 'n', what word do we make? (Students respond: 'sun'). Great! Now, let's try another one: 'h', 'a', 't'. What word do we get? (Students respond: 'hat'). Remember to say the sounds clearly!
