For example, every sentence should start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. Today, we will learn how to identify mistakes in sentences and how to fix them.

Let’s look at the sentence: 'uThandi uhlala eMakhado'. This sentence is missing a full stop at the end. The correct sentence should be 'uThandi uhlala eMakhado.' Now, let’s add a capital letter to the beginning of a new sentence: 'uThandi uthanda ukudlala.' This should be 'Uthandi uthanda ukudlala.' Notice how we started with a capital letter and ended with a full stop.

In groups, I will give you a list of sentences with mistakes. Your task is to read each sentence and identify the errors. For example, if the sentence is 'uSipho uthanda ukufunda', check if it needs a capital letter or a full stop. Once you find the mistakes, rewrite the sentences correctly on your paper. We will share our corrections as a class.
