Today, we will dive into the world of creative writing! Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings through stories, poems, and descriptions. We will start by discussing what makes a good story. Think about your favorite story. What do you like about it? Is it the characters, the setting, or the adventure? We will use these ideas to inspire our own writing.

Let’s create a short story together! I will write a sentence on the board: 'Once upon a time, there was a little bird who wanted to fly high in the sky.' Now, let’s add more sentences. What do you think the bird saw on its journey? Let’s brainstorm ideas. We can add sentences like, 'The bird saw beautiful flowers and tall trees.' Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end.

Now it’s your turn! I want you to think of an animal you like. Write a short story about what that animal does during the day. Use at least three sentences. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and end with a full stop. After you finish writing, we will share our stories with a partner. Listen carefully to your partner’s story and think about what you liked about it.

For your independent practice, I want you to write a story about a magical place you would like to visit. Describe what you see, hear, and feel in that place. Use at least five sentences and remember to check your punctuation and spacing. Once you finish, draw a picture of your magical place and label it with words. We will display your stories and drawings in the classroom!
