A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. It starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark. The most common punctuation marks are the full stop (.), question mark (?), and exclamation mark (!). Today, we will learn how to use these punctuation marks correctly in our sentences.
Let’s look at some examples. 'I love to play outside.' This sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Another example is 'Are you coming to the party?' This sentence is a question, so it ends with a question mark. Lastly, 'Wow! That’s amazing!' shows excitement and ends with an exclamation mark.
Now, let’s create sentences together. I will say a sentence, and you will help me add the correct punctuation. For example, if I say 'The sun is shining', what punctuation should we use? (Pause for responses.) Yes, we should use a full stop! Let’s try another one: 'What time is it'. (Pause for responses.) Correct! It should be 'What time is it?' with a question mark.
