A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. It starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark. The most common punctuation marks are the full stop (.), question mark (?), and exclamation mark (!). Full stops are used at the end of statements, question marks at the end of questions, and exclamation marks to show strong feelings. For example, 'I love isiXhosa!' shows excitement.
Let's look at some examples. 'The cat is sleeping.' is a complete sentence that ends with a full stop. 'Are you coming to the party?' is a question and ends with a question mark. 'Wow, that is amazing!' shows excitement and ends with an exclamation mark. Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with the correct punctuation.
