Today, we will explore a short story together. Shared reading allows us to read as a group, helping each other understand the text. As we read, I want you to think about what might happen next in the story. This is called making a prediction. Predictions help us engage with the text and think critically about the characters and events.

Let’s read a short passage together: 'UThandiwe noSipho bahamba emhlabeni. Bafika endaweni enezihlahla ezinkulu.' After reading this, I want you to predict what you think will happen next. Will they find something special? Will they meet someone? Discuss your ideas with a partner before sharing with the class.

Now, I will read another short text aloud. As I read, I want you to raise your hand whenever you think you can make a prediction. After the reading, we will discuss your predictions as a class. Remember to explain why you think that will happen next. This will help us understand the story better.

For your independent task, I want you to write a short paragraph predicting what will happen in a story of your choice. Use at least three sentences and remember to use correct punctuation. After writing, draw a picture that represents your prediction. Be ready to share your work with the class.
