Let's build some words together. If we take the sound 'b', we can create the word 'baba'. Now, let's add another letter to make a new word. If we add 'a' at the end, we get 'baba' (father). Next, let's try 'd'. If we say 'dada', we can also change it to 'dada' (dad) by adding 'a' at the end. This shows how we can build words using phonics.
In groups, students will be given a set of letter cards. Each group will create as many words as they can using the letters 'b', 'd', and 'g'. After 10 minutes, each group will present their words to the class. Encourage students to pronounce the words correctly and use them in simple sentences. For example, 'Baba uhleli' (Father is sitting).
Students will write three sentences using the words they created during the group activity. They must ensure that each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.
