Today, we will explore the world of creative writing! Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. We will learn how to write short stories and sentences that are clear and interesting. Remember, a good story has a beginning, middle, and end. We will also focus on using correct punctuation, like full stops and question marks, to make our writing easy to read.
Letβs look at a simple story together. 'Once upon a time, there was a little bird named Lindi. Lindi loved to sing. One day, she sang so beautifully that all the animals came to listen. They danced and clapped for her!' Notice how the story has a clear beginning, middle, and end. We used full stops to separate the sentences. Can anyone tell me what Lindi loved to do?
Now, letβs create our own short stories! I will give you a prompt: 'A magical garden.' Think about what you would see in this garden. What kind of flowers or animals would be there? Write 3 sentences about your magical garden. Remember to use full stops at the end of each sentence. After you finish, we will share our stories with the class.
For your independent practice, I want you to write a short story about your favorite animal. Use at least 5 sentences and make sure to include correct punctuation. After writing, draw a picture of your animal and label it. Once you are done, we will have a sharing session where you can read your story to a partner.
