isiZulu Home Language - Term 3 - Week 7

In this lesson, we will focus on listening and speaking skills in isiZulu. We will listen to a short story and then discuss it as a class. This will help us practice our vocabulary and sentence structure.

Let’s read a short story together: 'UThandiwe noSipho bahamba epaki. UThandiwe uthanda izinyoni, kanti uSipho uthanda izihlahla.' After reading, we will discuss what the characters like and where they are going. This helps us understand the text better and practice speaking about it.

After listening to the story, I will ask questions such as: 'Yini uThandiwe ayithandayo?' and 'U-Sipho uthanda ini?' Students will respond in full sentences, for example, 'UThandiwe uthanda izinyoni.' This encourages them to think critically and articulate their thoughts clearly.

Now, each student will write two sentences about their favorite animal or plant. They should remember to use correct punctuation and spacing. For example, 'Ngithanda izinja. Ziyajabulisa.' After writing, students will share their sentences with a partner, practicing their speaking skills.
