Health and safety are important for everyone. Health means taking care of our bodies by eating well, exercising, and getting enough sleep. Safety means keeping ourselves and others safe from harm. Today, we will talk about how we can make healthy choices and behave respectfully to ensure our well-being and that of our friends.
Let's look at some examples of healthy choices. If I ask you whether to eat an apple or a candy bar, which one is healthier? (Pause for responses.) That's right, the apple! Eating fruits and vegetables helps our bodies grow strong. Now, let's think about safety. If you see a wet floor, what should you do? (Pause for responses.) Yes, you should walk carefully or tell an adult!
Now, let's practice what we've learned through role-playing. I will divide you into small groups and give each group a scenario. For example, one group will act out a situation where someone is not wearing a helmet while riding a bike. You will discuss how to make it a safe situation. After a few minutes, each group will share their scenario and how they can make healthy and safe choices.
To finish our lesson, I want you to think about one healthy choice you can make this week. It could be drinking more water, eating a vegetable at every meal, or playing outside for at least 30 minutes each day. Write down your goal on a piece of paper and draw a picture of how you will achieve it. We will share our goals with the class tomorrow!
