Health and safety refer to the practices and measures we take to keep ourselves and others safe and healthy. This includes making good choices about what we eat, how we exercise, and how we behave around others. For example, washing our hands before eating helps prevent illness, while being kind and respectful to our friends creates a safe and happy environment.
Let's look at some examples of healthy choices. If you have the option to choose between an apple and a chocolate bar, which one is healthier? The apple is a better choice because it provides vitamins and energy without too much sugar. Discuss with your partner why making healthy choices is important for our bodies and minds.
In pairs, you will act out different scenarios related to health and safety. One student will present a situation, such as 'You see a friend who is feeling sick' or 'You are at a party with lots of sweets.' The other student will respond with a healthy choice or a respectful behavior. After each role-play, we will discuss as a class what was done well and what could be improved.
Now that we have learned about health and safety, it's time to think about our own goals. Each student will write down one small goal related to health or safety that they want to achieve this week. For example, 'I will drink more water each day' or 'I will help my friend if they fall.' Share your goal with a partner and discuss how you can support each other in achieving it.
