Goal setting is the process of deciding what you want to achieve and making a plan to get there. It helps us focus on what is important and gives us direction. For example, if you want to improve your reading skills, you can set a goal to read one book each week. This way, you know exactly what you need to do to reach your goal.
Let's say you want to learn how to tie your shoelaces. A simple goal could be: 'I will practice tying my shoelaces every day for 5 minutes.' To achieve this goal, you can ask a family member to help you and use a shoe to practice. By the end of the week, you can check if you can tie your shoelaces by yourself!
In small groups, discuss a goal you would like to achieve this term. Think about what steps you need to take to reach that goal. For example, if your goal is to improve your math skills, you might decide to practice math problems for 10 minutes each day. Share your goals with the class and explain why they are important to you.
Now it's time for you to set a small goal for yourself. Write down one goal you want to achieve this week. It could be related to school, sports, or even a personal skill. Next to your goal, list two steps you will take to achieve it. At the end of the week, we will reflect on how well you did!
