Assessment is a way for us to think about what we have learned and how we can improve. Reflection is when we take a moment to think about our actions and decisions. In this lesson, we will discuss why it is important to assess our choices, especially when it comes to being healthy and respectful. We will also learn how to set small goals to help us grow.
Let's look at a scenario: Imagine you see a friend being teased at school. What would you do? We can assess this situation by thinking about our options. We could choose to help the friend by standing up for them or by telling a teacher. Reflecting on this choice helps us understand the importance of being respectful and kind to others.
In pairs, students will role-play different scenarios where they must make healthy choices. For example, one student can pretend to be a friend who wants to eat junk food, while the other encourages them to choose a healthy snack instead. After each role-play, we will discuss what choices were made and how they reflect our values of health and respect.
Now itβs time for you to reflect on your own learning. Think about something you learned this term that you want to improve. Write down a small goal you can achieve by the end of the week. For example, if you want to be kinder, your goal could be to say something nice to a classmate every day. Share your goal with a partner and discuss how you will achieve it.
