For instance, if a pencil is 15 cm long, we can say the book is longer than the pencil. This helps us understand relative sizes using measurement.
Now, let’s practice measuring together. Take a ruler and measure the length of your desk. Write down the measurement in centimeters. After that, compare your measurement with a partner. Discuss why measurements might be different if someone measured from a different starting point. This will help us understand accuracy in measurement.
For your independent practice, find three objects in the classroom and measure their lengths using a ruler. Write down each measurement and the unit you used.
