A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. It begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark, such as a period (.), question mark (?), or exclamation mark (!). Punctuation helps us understand how to read sentences correctly. For example, a question mark shows that the sentence is asking something, while an exclamation mark shows excitement.
Let's look at some examples of sentences. 'The cat is sleeping.' is a complete sentence that tells us what the cat is doing. Notice that it starts with a capital letter and ends with a period. Another example is 'Are you coming to the party?' This sentence asks a question, so it ends with a question mark. Lastly, 'Wow! That is amazing!' shows excitement and ends with an exclamation mark.
Now, let's create some sentences together. I will say a few words, and you will help me form a complete sentence. For example, if I say 'dog', 'bark', and 'loud', we can create the sentence 'The dog barks loudly.' Remember to start with a capital letter and end with a period. Let's try another one: 'bird', 'fly', 'high'. What sentence can we make?
