A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. In Sesotho, sentences often start with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark. The most common punctuation marks are the full stop (.), question mark (?), and exclamation mark (!). Each of these marks serves a different purpose: a full stop indicates the end of a statement, a question mark is used at the end of a question, and an exclamation mark shows excitement or strong feelings.
Let's look at some examples of sentences: 'Ke rata ho bapala.' (I like to play.) This sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. Another example is 'O kae?' (Where are you?) which ends with a question mark. Notice how the punctuation changes the meaning of the sentence. Lastly, 'Ke thabile!' (I am happy!) ends with an exclamation mark to show excitement.
