A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. It starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark. The most common punctuation marks are the full stop (.), question mark (?), and exclamation mark (!). For example, 'I love Setswana!' is an exclamatory sentence.

'Wow, that’s amazing!' shows excitement and ends with an exclamation mark. Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with the correct punctuation.
Now, let’s create sentences as a class. I will give you a subject, and you will help me complete the sentence. For example, if I say 'The cat...', you can suggest endings like 'is sleeping.' or 'is playing with a ball.' After we create the sentence, we will check if it starts with a capital letter and ends with the correct punctuation. Let’s write: 'The cat is sleeping.' What punctuation do we need at the end?
