In this lesson, we will focus on listening and speaking skills that are essential for effective communication. We will listen to a short story in Setswana and then discuss it as a class. Listening carefully helps us understand the message being conveyed, while speaking allows us to express our thoughts and ideas clearly.

Let’s read a short story together: 'Mokhudu o ne a na le ngwana yo o ratang go bapala. Ngwana o ne a bapala le bagwera ba gagwe mo serapeng.' After reading, we will discuss what Mokhudu and the child did in the story. This helps us practice our listening and comprehension skills.

After listening to the story, I will ask the class questions to encourage discussion. For example, 'Ke eng se ngwana a se ratang?' (What does the child like?). Students will take turns answering, which will help them practice speaking in front of their peers. I will guide them to use complete sentences and correct punctuation.

Now, each student will write three sentences about their favorite activity using correct punctuation and spacing. For example, 'Ke rata go bapala le bagwera ba me.' (I like to play with my friends.) After writing, students will share their sentences with a partner, practicing their speaking skills again.
