Let’s read the first part of our story: 'Once upon a time, there was a little bird who wanted to fly high in the sky.' What do you think will happen next? Will the bird learn to fly? Will it meet other birds? Discuss your ideas with a partner and then we will share them with the class.
Now, let’s read the next part of the story together. As we read, I want you to think about what might happen next. After reading, we will have a group discussion. I will ask you questions like, 'Why do you think the bird wants to fly?' and 'What do you think it will do to achieve its dream?' Remember to listen to your classmates and build on their ideas.
After our reading and discussion, it’s time for you to write your own predictions. On your paper, write one sentence about what you think will happen next in the story. Make sure to use correct punctuation. For example, you could write, 'I think the bird will find a friend.' Once you finish, draw a picture of what you think will happen next.
