Creative writing allows us to express our thoughts and feelings in unique ways. In Xitsonga, we can tell stories, describe our experiences, or share our ideas. Today, we will learn how to write short texts that are clear and interesting. We will focus on using correct punctuation, such as full stops and question marks, to help our readers understand our writing better.

Let’s look at a simple example: 'Ndi na xihlahla xa switlhavi. Xihlahla lexi xi na switlhavi swo tala. Ndzi rhandza ku vona switlhavi.' This text describes a tree and its fruits. Notice how each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop. This is important for clear writing.

In small groups, let’s create a short story together. Each student will contribute one sentence. Start with a sentence like, 'Ndi na xihlahla.' As we go around the group, each student will add to the story. Remember to listen carefully and use punctuation correctly. After we finish, we will read the story aloud together.

Now it’s your turn to write! Think of a topic you enjoy, like your favorite animal or a fun day you had. Write 3-4 sentences about it. Make sure to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and full stops at the end. Once you finish, share your text with a partner and discuss what you wrote.
