Let's read a short story together. The story is about a young boy named Thabo who finds a lost puppy. As we read, pay attention to how I use my voice to express Thabo's excitement and concern. Notice the punctuation marks, like exclamation points and question marks, which help us understand how to read the sentences with the right expression.

Now, we will split into small groups. Each group will read a different short text about animals. After reading, discuss with your group how the characters feel in the story. Use your voice to act out the emotions of the characters. Remember to pay attention to punctuation as you read aloud.

For independent practice, write three sentences about your favorite animal. Make sure to use correct punctuation and spacing. After writing, read your sentences aloud to a partner, using expression to show how much you love your animal. This will help you practice both writing and reading fluently.
