Today, we will explore the concept of shared reading. Shared reading is when we read a text together as a class. It helps us understand stories better and allows us to share our ideas. We will look at a short story and predict what might happen based on the title and pictures. This will help us think critically and engage with the text.

Let’s look at the title of our story: 'The Lost Puppy'. What do you think this story might be about? (Pause for student responses.) Now, let’s look at the cover illustration. What do you see? (Encourage students to describe the picture.) Based on the title and the picture, I predict that the story will be about a puppy that gets lost and tries to find its way home.

Now, we will read the first few pages of 'The Lost Puppy' together. As we read, I want you to think about what might happen next. After each page, we will pause and discuss our predictions. What do you think will happen to the puppy? Why do you think that? This will help us practice our listening and speaking skills.

After our reading session, I want you to write three sentences about what you think will happen next in the story. Remember to use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence and a full stop at the end. Once you finish writing, share your sentences with a partner and discuss your predictions.
