Reading fluency is the ability to read a text smoothly and accurately. It involves recognizing words quickly and expressing them with the right emotions and intonation. This week, we will practice reading short texts aloud, focusing on how we say the words, not just what they mean. Good readers use expression to make their reading interesting and engaging.

Let's read a short story together. I will read the first paragraph of 'The Brave Little Rabbit.' As I read, listen to how I change my voice for different characters and emotions. For example, when the rabbit is scared, my voice will be soft and shaky. After I finish, we will discuss how the expression changed the meaning of the story.

Now, it's your turn! In small groups, choose a short text from the reading corner. Each person will take turns reading a paragraph aloud. Remember to use expression in your voice. After each person reads, the group will discuss how the expression affected their understanding of the text. What did you feel when you heard the different voices?

For your independent practice, write three sentences about your favorite animal. Use punctuation marks correctly and think about how you would say these sentences with expression. After writing, practice reading your sentences aloud to a partner, focusing on using your voice to show how you feel about your animal.
